Medicine Show is Pedro Podre's first solo show, and it elaborates on the distinctive visual language and aesthetic he has been developing for the past years. The concept was born from the Vaudeville circus, Freak-Show and the traveling Medicine Show wagons, where they used to sell Snake oil and other “quack” medicine with questionable effectiveness. His characters create a parallelism between the daily-life addictions and this burlesque shows from the past. Between fallen angels, mutants or obsolete cyborgs, his characters are simultaneously the actors and the audience of the play, self-medicated through escapism and addictions to ease their uncertainties, anxieties and bad decisions.
