Street Gnomes

Solo Show by GUTFACE

"𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗚𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀" gives a spin on the folklore of garden gnomes and brings them from our gardens to city streets. The gnomes are believed to be mythical humanoid creatures, the guardians of plant life who mostly live underground. As we have moved from gardens and farms to cities and streets, our bushes have turned into benches, trees into street lamps and garden gnomes into traffic cones. Street gnomes symbolizes the hidden lives of our rarely acknowledged road workers, electricians, plumbers and garbagemen — the modern urban caretakers. GUTFACE (@ingmar.jarve) is an artist coming from Estonia, the edge of Europe. He now lives in Tartu and is working as a freelance artist, illustrator and graphic designer. During the past years he has been touring around Europe with street art festival @stencibility’s exhibition “Hello Mister Police Officer” and is a proud member of lowbrow collective @ajuokse (Brain Vomit) in Tartu.
